A 300, limited edition, set of 3 thangkas dedicated to the life of the 14th Dalai Lama, revered by Tibetans and Buddhists as the emanation of Avalokiteshvara, patron Bodhitsattva of Tibet. Each painting depicts events of the 14th Dalai Lama’s life around a central figure of him at different stages in his life. The three paintings can be hung together as a triptych with the central figure facing forward and the other two turned towards it.
A standard edition of the “Lives of the Dalai Lama” Book, in which the accompanying scenes and details of each thangka of the Collection are thoroughly explained, will accompany each set. This book is a guide to the entire collection and includes explanations of the historical and philosophical background of the figures and events the paintings depict.
There are only 150 sets of 3 artworks of the current living Dalai Lama. The series includes three (3) distinct images: the first depicts his childhood, the second depicts his mid-life, and the third piece depicts his adult life.
